Class Actions
Most often, a class action lawsuit features a few individuals bringing claims against one or more defendants. The claims are brought not only for the individual plaintiffs but also for all individuals whose situations are sufficiently similar, so that a one-time resolution of the controversy is the most expeditious way to resolve the conflict.

One court has noted that the class action is the only practical means for class members to receive redress, particularly where the claims are small. Another court has stated that, in a large and impersonal society, class actions are often the last barricade of consumer protection.
